I have a wealth of experience of working with all kinds of people, helping them to develop their creativity and bring their ideas to fruition.

I started my professional career as an art teacher, and ran my own studio practice at the same time. As a borough councillor for the village of Belford in Northumberland, increasingly I became convinced of the role of creativity in the regeneration of communities. This led me to make a career shift, and I have since worked as Arts Development Officer for several local authorities.

Since 1997, I have worked extensively with colleagues from da capo Arts Development & Cultural Planning, on projects including:

  • 2021 Visual Arts Centre, Scunthorpe;
  • Development of arts venues in Lichfield, Staffordshire;
  • Development of an Arts Staregy for Doncaster;
  • Feasibility studies for arts facilities at schools in Leicestershire and Worcestershire;
  • Arts Strategy for Bassetlaw, Nottinghamshire;
  • Arts Strategy for Staffordshire Moorlands;
  • Youth arts audit for Kirklees
  • Cultural Strategy for Cumbria
